Ben Cernotta
Performance and General Psychologist
MPsych (Sport & Exercise), PostGradDipPsych, BA (Psych, Criminology & Justice), MAPS
Ben is a registered psychologist with a special interest in the relationship between physical activity and mental health, behaviour change, and human performance. With a background as a former professional athlete (MMA) and a Master of Psychology (Sport & Exercise), Ben brings a grounded, evidence-based approach that helps clients create momentum and lasting change in their lives.

He works with children (10+), adolescents, and adults experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, weight-management concerns, performance issues, and motivation difficulties. His therapeutic style draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailored to each client’s unique goals and values.

Ben’s experience spans private practice, high-performance sport, correctional settings, and organisational consulting. He has worked at both the individual and systems level—designing and developing programs, delivering therapy, and supporting performance in demanding environments.

Ben integrates evidence-based therapies with movement and goal-directed action. He is currently developing an exercise-based mental health program designed to support people struggling with depression and anxiety—which will soon be available as part of his service offerings.

Ben's rate for individual 50-minute sessions is $220 (Medicare rebate of $96.65 for 10 sessions per calendar year with a valid GP Mental Health Care Plan).
